Far Infrared Contraindications & FAQ:
Certain Ailments: According to some authorities, it is considered inadvisable to raise the core temperature of someone with adrenal suppression, systemic lupus erythematosus, or multiple sclerosis.
Joint Problems: If a person has a recent (acute) joint injury, it should not be heated for the first 48 hours or until the hot and swollen symptoms subside.
Pregnancy: In pregnancy or the suspicion of pregnancy, sauna use is not recommended.
Surgical Implants: Metal pins, rods, artificial joints, or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared rays and are not heated by an infrared heat system. Nevertheless, a person should consult his or her surgeon before receiving such therapy. Certainly infrared therapy must be discontinued if a person experiences pain near any implants.
Silicone: This heat poses little danger to silicone implants, but you should discontinue using your infrared sauna if you experience pain or other symptoms at the site of an implant. Check with your physician before you use an infrared sauna if you have breast implants or other silicone implants.
Menstruation: Heating of the low-back area of women during the menstrual period may temporarily increase menstrual flow. Once a woman is aware that this is occurring, she can choose to allow herself to experience this short-term effect without worry. Or she may simply avoid using an infrared heat source at that time in her cycle.
Pain: Pain should not be experienced when using an infrared heat system. If one does, the use of radiant heat is clearly inappropriate for the person at that time.
FAQ
How is a FAR Infrared Sauna different from other saunas?
Regular saunas heat the skin superficially with a high wattage heater, causing opening of the sweat glands and allowing excess water to escape. The 180-degree-plus heat of the air in the sauna room heats up your lungs very quickly and shocks the body. Because the FAR penetrates to a depth of 5-7 cm or 1.5 inches, your sweat glands are pouring out water even before the core body increases to the point of discomfort. At the depth of 1.5 - 2 inches our fat cells are stimulated which causes a release of toxins to the surface.
Compared to other saunas which only heat 20% of the air, 93% of the heat energy emitted from a FAR infrared sauna is absorbed by our tissues, the reason is that the energy emitted by the FAR is very easily absorbed and assimilated by our bodies. The extreme heat of regular saunas can dry out your skin and mucous membranes (nasal passages, throat and eyes.) Our infrared sauna is the kind where you lay down on a very comfortable massage table, underneath the shell of the sauna. Your head is outside of the sauna so that you are breathing cool air the whole time. Nausea, dizziness and claustrophobia are common reactions for regular saunas, but never for our infrared sauna.
Why Is FIR important to the human body?
FIR has the ability to penetrate, refract, radiate and reflect. The human body can absorb FIR because of its deep penetrating ability. When FIR penetrates through skin to the subcutaneous tissues, it transforms from light energy into heat energy. The thermal effect within the deep layers of the tissues causes bloods vessels and capillaries to dilate, promoting a better blood circulation, and the heat so produced helps to get rid of body toxins and metabolic wastes through sweating

How safe is the FAR infrared sauna? Are there any side effects?
The FAR infrared sauna is completely safe. This is the exact opposite end of the spectrum from ultraviolet (UV) waves and is nothing like microwaves. UV overexposure has repeatedly been shown to be bad for your skin whether from regularly going to tanning salons or laying in the sun until you burn.
FAR infrared waves are the healthful part of going into the sun. We all need a bit of sun exposure for vitamin D production and other reasons. But when we get too much exposure, the UV damage far outweighs the infrared benefits. With an infrared sauna you can gain the beneficial exposure and not be exposed to the UV at all.
How often can I use the infrared sauna?
For some folks who are particularly toxic or unhealthy, once or twice a week might be all they can handle. That being said, most people that are looking to do some cleaning out like to come three times a week during a serious cleanse.
Will The far infrared sauna help me loose weight?
A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat off 500 grams of sweat in a 30-minute session —equivalent to running three to four miles or 475 to 600 calories. Depending upon an individual’s constitution, an infrared sauna can burn up to 900 calories in a 30-minute session. Fluids lost in the sauna can be replenished, but the calories are not. Because fat becomes water soluble at 110 degrees F, subcutaneous fat can be released along with the sweat and toxins. If heavy metals are reduced, this will correct metabolic imbalances that cause poor digestion and weight gain. Also, toxins stored in the fat are decreased making it easier to lose weight
